Costa Rica and Nicaragua Testimonials! :)

Welcome back from spring break everyone, I hope you all were able to relax, and enjoy your time off!  For those of you who don’t know, we were able to send some of our members to Costa Rica and Nicaragua. It seems like they all had an awesome experience and were able to contribute to FIMRC’s international efforts.  I wanted to share some of their testimonials  and pictures with y’all!

From our group of Costa Rica travelers:

Over spring break, I had the opportunity to travel to Project Alajuelita in Costa Rica. Working in the clinic showed me how much of an impact small gestures can have on patients. One patient gave me the biggest hug just because  I gave her medication and explained the instructions on how to take it. Moments like these are what make me want to become a doctor – seeing how much a simple action meant to one person keeps me motivated to be able to do this for a lot of patients in the future. Thank you FIMRC for making this trip happen, I can’t wait to go back one day!” – Hayn Arrington

From our only Nicaragua volunteer:

I traveled to Nicaragua with FIMRC over spring break 2017 looking for experience in international health that would help inform my decision to pursue a career in healthcare. What I found there was exactly what I had been looking for. As the only volunteer on the site, I had the freedom to assist with home visits, witness pediatric consultations, take patient vitals, and help with other daily operations. One of my favorite parts of the trip was experiencing the culture of the Nicaraguan people by getting to know my host family. I also had the opportunity to explore some of Nicaragua’s natural beauty by paddleboarding Las Isletas, beholding Volcan Masaya, and surfing at Magnific Rock. All in all, the small amount of time I spent in Las Salinas was a great opportunity for me to challenge my own assumptions and push myself out of my comfort zone while helping to make an impact on the community. ” – Andrew Sedler

Thank you to everyone who traveled for representing Clemson FIMRC well, and I’m so happy y’all enjoyed your time at the sites (though, I am a little jealous).  I hope that all of our other members who have yet to go to a site, are eventually able to as well : )  Here are some pictures fro their experiences!
